Day 105 – Mar 16 Sat.

Day before Saint Patty’s day.

Went to percha dam state park for 2 nights.

You can stay for $8 with electric and water with the New Mexico non resident pass so it’s a great deal. I wished Ohio state parks would get on board. It’s $33 a night to go to Alum Creek!

This has a nice dam and very clean campground.

Passed through fields of chili peppers.

I thought people were playing soccer and they were pickin chili peppers!

Must be what you do on a Saturday!

Hatch NM is right down the road and it is the chili capital of the United States. Cute little town and every shop sells chili peppers in all shapes. Lots are woven together and dried.

Didn’t get any pictures because I was driving but it is a cute town.

Drizzling rain and 50゚ today. Good sewing day.

Happy trails.

  1. Hi Jan, Friends of mine, Carol and David Monson, have a 5th wheeler and have been in Arizona for the past six to eight weeks. She had heart surgery last year, and her doc allowed her to leave Columbus, I think in early January. When they are in Central Ohio (they have a son and grandchildren who live in Delaware) in the summer months, they stay at a campground that is near Alum Creek. I will try to get the name of it for you. I thought you were headed to Florida by now. Chuck and I are currently on a 11 day cruise, we are in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. It’s raining and we are supposed to go on an excursion to a rain forest. Ugh.
