New Year’s Eve is always a bitter sweet day for me and our family because that was the day our beloved Dad passed away.
He was in an assisted living home 10 weeks after Mom had passed away in October and he told his health care nurse “I’m not gonna start another year without my wife.”
After his shower, he laid down in his bed for a short nap and never woke up. Had his arms crossed and his feet crossed as to say, “Beam me up Scotty”.
He was really ready to join Mom. He lived a solid 94 years. He was in the Air Force, worked at Shelby Seamless Tube and on to become the owner and operator of Dell cleaners and Cleve Cleaners and another laundromat attached to the dry cleaners.
He worked on all the boilers himself and all the machinery, did all the books, and delivered all the clothes.
He was a man of many talents.
Yet he is still sadly missed by all his kids who loved him. He will always live in our hearts.
Happy trails, Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa. RIP
